Breckenridge, Colorado Ski Slopes

While we’ve enjoyed many fantastic ski slopes in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Breckenridge (Breck to locals) has become the chosen go-to-ski-week vacation spot for my husband and me. It not only offers excellent skiing variety on its five peaks, but the town itself surprises with a plethora of things to do and see. There are also lots of excellent restaurants to try ranging from casual fare in lively pubs and bars to unique, upscale dining in cozy dining rooms.

Numerous shops, housed in restored, historic homes and buildings, spill down Main Street, offering everything from T-shirts to high-end clothing and artwork, furniture, and jewelry. Local artisans have workshops in the centrally located Arts District, where they offer classes and sell their pieces. You can also explore museums to learn about the area’s long mining history. If you’re looking to relax, there are several spas to choose from, or you can spend an afternoon at one of the town’s craft breweries or wine bars that offer tours and tastes.

What I love most about Breckenridge are the towering, snow-capped peaks of the gorgeous Rocky Mountains surrounding the town. Put all these things together, and I think you can see why Breck has become one of my favorite winter vacation spots. (Bonus — Because it offers so much more than skiing, Breckenridge is a fabulous year-round destination!)
